The advance of modern materials, hybrid materials and fibrous composite materials must be seen as an important driver for lightweight design in all conceivable industry sectors. However, considerable challenges arise in actual practice, above all in the field of mechanical processing, as well as in joining and fastening technology. Customized adhesives are more than just a technically and economically interesting alternative in this respect, because components can be joined to each other directly without any additional mechanical pre-processing (drilling, deburring etc.) by means of a partial or a full surface joint. Furthermore, bonding operations are comparatively easy to automate, so that module assembly can be implemented directly downstream from parts production via the intermediate cleaning step.
