Optical Bonding: the UV adhesive that makes your displays shine – K-LITE 622 LOCA
KEOL-UV LOCA 622 has been specially developed for bonding glass in optical applications. Its great flexibility enables it to compensate for differential expansion between assembled parts. It is a transparent resin with a photosensitive acrylic base. Single-component, it is very easy to apply.
- Transparent LOCA adhesives,
- Controlled refractive index (1.47–1.52),
- Light transmission > 98%.
- Bubble-free, no yellowing,
- Fast UV LED cure - Made in Europe
Typical issues at display manufacturing and optical bonding are:
Reflections and contrast loss
Displays with an air gap between LCD/OLED and cover-glass lose up to 15% brightness and 50% sunlight contrast. Poor outdoor or cockpit readability.
Bubbles, halos, yellowing
Low-end LOCA generates bubbles, yellows under UV or sustained heat, and creates visible halos. Visual quality degrades within months.
Mismatched index
Refractive index poorly matched to glass, ITO or PMMA creates optical interference. Layers become visible. Unacceptable for luxury, automotive, medical.
K-LITE optical: KEOL's technical answer
KEOL formulates its UV LOCA adhesives in-house. Refractive index tuneable to your stack, viscosities suited for capillary fill or dam-and-fill, fast UV LED cure with no exotherm. Validated in KEO-Lab before production.
Optical clarity
Transmission > 98% across visible (380–780nm).Haze<0.5%. No yellowing after 1000 h UV aging (ASTM G154) or 500 h at 85°C/85% RH.
Refractive index
Formulations with adjustable index 1.47 to 1.52 by substrate (glass, PMMA, polycarbonate, ITO). Optical matching, internal reflections suppressed.
Process compatibility
UV LED cure 365 / 385 / 395 / 405 nm. Viscosities 200–8,000 cps for capillary fill, dam-and-fill or lamination. Reworkable on selected formulations.
Mechanical & aging resistance
Adhesion > 4 MPa glass/glass. Flexibility maintained over ΔT (−40 to +85°C). Compliant with automotive (IEC 60068) and medical (ISO 10993 on selection) testing.
