KSS is a manufacturer of miniature sized Ball Screws & Actuators, introduced a space-saving actuator combining 3 functions in one housing. The actuator is based on a hollow shaft motor and combines a ball screw, and anti-twist device (BSSP).
The actuator is called "V-Z-θ Actuator" because of the combined functions in one housing: vacuum (V), a linear movement (Z) and rotating movement (θ).
The hollow shaft motor has enough space to simultaneously integrate a ball screw nut with a BSSP, a ball screw with a twisted secured shaft guide, thanks to the special grinding technology from KSS, the screw shaft can also be used for a suction function.
KSS provides 3-types of multi-functional V-Z-θ Actuators, which are: Direct Drive-, Hybrid Drive-, and Belt-Drive-type.
Optional extra function can be implemented, like an electromagnetic brake and an encoder.

At the Motek (Halle 7 Stand 7438) we have an application of a wafer handling unit running as seen in a semiconductor production process., and is based on our Belt Drive V-Z-θ Actuator. The demo performs and demonstrates the 3 functions of the compact V-Z-θ Actuator: as Linear Motion, Rotation, and, Vacuum in the very limited space
