Motek/Bondexpo 2022: the Countdown has Begun!

Bondexpo Internationale Fachmesse für Klebtechnologie motek 2022 countdown scaled uai

Just one more week until the time-tested Motek/Bondexpo trade fair duo opens its doors in Stuttgart. Together with the 15th Bondexpo international trade fair for bonding technology, the 40th Motek international trade fair for automation in production and assembly invites all industry players to a live exchange from the 4th through the 7th of October, 2022. Highlight themes, the Arena of Integration, the Startup Area and a comprehensive programme of presentations ensure four informative and exciting trade fair days that expert visitors won’t want to miss.

The “Industrial Image Processing Forum” will once again be an integral part of this year’s Motek/Bondexpo. The event series covering technology know-how in the field of industrial image processing will be continued by machine vision and advanced training specialist Evotron, and will provide trade visitors with up-to-date knowledge free of charge – prepared in a compact and practice-oriented manner. Four short seminars will be held each day in room 7.1 between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.

The expert forum on “Safety and Automation” will also be hosted for the fifth time this year by Pilz from Ostfildern, Germany. Expert visitors will be presented with the latest information on trends in safe automation on the first day of the trade fair, the 4th of October, from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the forum in hall 5. Renowned experts from associations, science and industry will provide information on automation topics in an exciting series of presentations.

Trade fair guests can also look forward to the startup area in hall 1. Once again in 2022, young companies will exhibit their new developments for production automation.

Arena of Integration as Trade Fair Highlight

The Arena of Integration in hall 1 will once again be a trade fair highlight. A total of six use cases have been prepared. For example, macio and sereact offer two levels of digitalisation and automation in production: a collaborative robot is used to pick various items from a single-sort container and place them into a load carrier. During the course of this process, the cobot works entirely autonomously because sereact’s AI-supported control software allows it to perceive its surroundings and identify precise gripping points, even for complex objects, and to develop manipulation strategies if necessary.

Digital order processing through the use of virtual commissioning and a digital twin will be a further AoI use case: Together, ruhlamat and machineering present digital order processing and demonstrate how it can be simplified and potential can be exploited. Finally, Thyssen Krupp Automation will present an example of digitalisation in assembly: the use of manufacturing execution systems (MES) will be demonstrated for new as well as existing facilities (greenfield and brownfield). MES functionalities in automated assembly are presented in detail on the basis of use cases. The advantages of shop floor data collection in automated assembly are made apparent, options for retrofitting existing facilities are demonstrated and the challenges of shop floor data collection in new and old facilities are
explained. What’s special about this use case? MES fulfils all of the requirements of an efficient production management system through the intelligent use of the customer’s production data.

Production Companies Equip Themselves for the Future

The industry sector is eagerly awaiting Motek/Bondexpo 2022 as an autumn trade fair highlight. Manufacturing companies are working hard at producing even more economically, less expensively, more efficiently and more reliably, and they have to equip themselves accordingly. As a consequence, extensive attention will also be focussed on the issues of sustainability, climate protection, conservation of resources and energy efficiency at the practical, user-oriented working trade fair. Motek/Bondexpo will be able to provide manufacturing companies with forward-looking answers to pressing, currently relevant questions in many ways.

The talk to be held by Professor Thomas Bauernhansl, director of the Fraunhofer Institute fur Production Technology and Automation IPA and the Institute of Industrial Manufacturing and Management IFF at Stuttgart University, is also being eagerly awaited. He has accepted the invitation to speak on 40 years of technological development in production automation at the opening press conference for Motek’s anniversary event.

Matching target groups meet up with each other at Motek/Bondexpo: the trade fair brings together suppliers and users of industrial production and assembly automation, as well as bonding technology. Numerous original exhibitors, who participated at the first event four decades ago, will also be on hand. Personal conversations, technical disputes, problem solving on an equal footing – it’s important to meet at the trade fair and engage in concrete discussions with each other so that achievable, sustainable results can be attained and productive networks can be established.
