The 39th Motek – International Trade Fair for Production and Assembly Automation – is getting ready to take off together with the 14th Bondexpo – International Trade Fair for Adhesive Technologies. One of the focused topics of the industry highlight from 05. to 08 October 2020 will be digitalization, and start-up companies will also be given a special platform. An implementation concept is currently being developed in close coordination between the responsible authorities, the location operator Messe Stuttgart and the trade fair company Schall in order to meet all the requirements resulting from the Corona pandemic.

With the declaration of intent issued by the state government of Baden-Württemberg on 23 June 2020 that trade fairs with more than 1,000 participating persons will once again be permitted to take place as of 1 September 2020, trade fair promoter P. E. Schall GmbH & Co. KG and its project team for the organization of Motek/Bondexpo 2020 are switching from forced waiting mode to offensive implementation mode. Based on the most recent resolutions of the federal and state governments, as well as the requirements of the public health and regulatory authorities, which are now directly responsible, the trade fair promoter Schall is in close contact with the operator of Messe Stuttgart in order to be able to properly conduct Motek/Bondexpo 2020 under the given hygiene, distance and safety regulations.

Forced waiting due to regulatory requirements

As a benchmark for the further planning of trade fair operators and trade fair organizers, the Ministry of Economics and the Ministry of Social Affairs of Baden-Württemberg have drawn up hygiene guidelines for the organization of trade fairs. “Our trade show locations already allow a high degree of controllability. They are already well prepared. For example, through access controls with registration by name, limiting the number of participants, controlling the flow of visitors in relation to the size of the room/hall, or even ventilation concepts for indoor areas,” explained Nicole Hoffmeister-Kraut, Baden-Württemberg’s Minister of Economic Affairs. The number of visitors at large trade fairs would be considered in a differentiated manner, since not all visitors are at the trade fair at the same time; rather, the streams of visitors are distributed over one trade fair day as well as over all trade fair days
across, which allows for controlled steering. In coordination with the responsible offices, the location operator Messe Stuttgart and the trade fair company Schall, an implementation concept is being developed, which will be submitted for approval in a few days. Thus, the trade fair organizer wants to be able to give exhibitors and cooperation partners the “GO!” for Motek/Bondexpo 2020 by the end of July 2020 at the latest.

The goal remains: Smart Solutions for Production and Assembly

The Corona pandemic has kept the entire world in exception and wait-and-see mode for about five months. This makes the proven annual industry event Motek/Bondexpo, leading trade fair for the world of automation, all the more especially anticipated for the fall of 2020. Especially in times of difficult economic conditions, industrial users need practical and economical automation solutions. The product and service portfolio of Motek with components, assemblies, subsystems and complete systems for automated production and assembly is aimed at end-to-end automated production with flexible unit numbers. The globally recognized information, communication and business platform presents complete solutions oriented to industrial practice and networked in technology and communication. With joining technology as an elementary component of industrial manufacturing, the complementary Bondexpo is a proven addition to the regular annual industry meeting in Stuttgart. This year, start-ups will provide a breath of fresh air and new approaches to Smart Solutions for Production and Assembly; they will present their developments, solutions and services to trade visitors in a specially designed “Start-up Area”.
